The hypothalamus, which regulates the autonomic nervous system, activates the sympathetic nervous system (our fight-flight system), preparing the body for action.
The prefrontal cortex, responsible for rational thought and decision-making, may become less active, making it harder to think clearly or control impulses.
Our sympathic nervous system , which is inter-connected to all our bodily functions, responds to the stress response with speeding up the heart and breath rate, preparing for the fight-flight response.
Muscles throughout the body tense up to prepair for a threat, often resulting in aches and pains.
The body may sweat or tremble. Your digestion may slow, caused stomach upset.
